I want to test the clamping circuits as found on the Wikipedia page.

Not want I need; I need it to not go negative.

Works as expected!

Falstad says so, too.

Interesting! This might be what I need. Let's test it on the breadboard.

Yellow is IN, blue is OUT. Works perfectly!

Falstad shows it working, too.
The capacitor forms a time constant with a resistor load, which determines the range of frequencies over which the clamper will be effective (Wikipedia).
Do these values form some sort of low- or highpass filter? Yes, they form a high-pass filter with a cut-off of less then 1 Hz (so this should not be a problem).
